Using Treasure Map
Treasure Map raises your next Trinket gift choices by one rarity tier. A nearby gift-producing level-up gives it a practical use.
When it fits
It fits when another gift is attainable and the higher tier contains useful options for your team.
How to use it
Check which monster will create the next gift and its usual gift tier. With Scavenger, remember that extra copies apply to non-unique Common and Uncommon choices.
Example
An Uncommon gift becomes Rare. Its effects may improve, but those Rare choices lose Scavenger's Common-or-Uncommon extra-copy eligibility.
What you give up
You still need to reach the next gift, and a higher tier may lose a useful copy bonus. Forcing a poor merge just to use the map can waste gold.
