Privacy

Your records and privacy.

BatoForge does not require an account. A one-time Recorder connection opens your private Showdown library in the Account page, without sign-up, email, or a password. Team Builder selections are processed in your browser and are not submitted to BatoForge unless you use a sharing or feedback feature.

Recorder and private Showdown sync

BatoForge Recorder uploads by default. While the app runs, it automatically uploads your battle record information to a private BatoForge library. Your primary history stays on your Windows PC. Other visitors cannot open a private upload unless you choose to publish a separate share link.

Private records can contain Day results, formations, Trainer and Trinket details, Batomon forms and levels, Trainer health, battle duration, combat summaries, event choices, recording completeness, Steam build, and Recorder version. A one-way run identifier helps detect duplicate recordings. Neither this identifier nor a Showdown ID gives access to your records or proves ownership.

Private records can also include your game display name, account and run identifiers, game profile information such as rank, rating, and collection progress, and identifiers and ratings for opponents recorded by the game. These help connect records from the same run and match battles to their opponents.

Public share links omit raw account and run identifiers and the full game profile. Share links can show your game display name and rating; the Show profile setting controls this. It is enabled when a share is created and can be turned off for that share. Battle records may also show opponent ratings when recorded.

BatoForge does not need Steam credentials, authentication tokens, Windows usernames, full local file paths, original save files or databases, replay files, game executables, asset packs, images, audio, or complete game logs for private sync.

The Recorder protects its connection credentials using Windows data protection. A short-lived, one-time connection gives your browser access to your private library. You do not need to enter or keep a recovery code.

Automatic sync and the Upload or Upload All buttons can save a Showdown that is still in progress. As more Days are recorded, the cloud copy updates. Pausing sync stops automatic uploads; local recording and manual uploads remain available.

Deleting a cloud copy

Deleting a cloud copy removes it from My Showdowns immediately and revokes its public share links. It does not erase the Recorder’s local history. The private cloud copy remains recoverable for 24 hours: manually uploading the same Showdown during that window restores access. After the window, stored copies no longer used by any record are eligible for permanent deletion.

For privacy questions or problems deleting records, use the site’s data-issue form or email [email protected].

Site measurement

BatoForge uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage, including visited pages, recognized referral sources, approximate location, browser and device information, and whether tools were opened or used. A random browser identifier and a short-lived session identifier are stored in your browser to count visits and repeat use. Analytics cookies support the same anonymous visit count. These identifiers are separate from your Recorder connection and game account.

Search measurement includes the length of a query and the number of results, never the query itself. Page measurement uses page categories without search parameters or record identifiers. BatoForge does not send Team Builder selections, share-link tokens, one-way run identifiers, or private Showdown contents to Google Analytics. Download clicks measure interest in Recorder; they do not prove that the app was installed or a record was uploaded.

You can limit Google Analytics through your browser privacy settings, content-blocking tools, or Google’s Analytics opt-out controls. This notice will be updated before any change to advertising, storage, or personal-data practices takes effect.
