Using Earth Crest
Earth Crest permanently grows the Shield stats of monsters in the two rightmost slots. Give those positions to useful Shield casters.
When it fits
One or two Shield users that can move to the right column make good recipients. Check whether another carry already needs those positions.
How to use it
Place the recipients in top right and bottom right before battle start. After moving them, check every left/right and above/below support ability.
Example
If top right holds a Shield caster and bottom right holds a Damage-only unit, the caster has a Shield stat to develop. Another useful Shield caster could make better use of bottom right.
What you give up
The bonus grows a unit stat; protection arrives when the relevant ability acts. Moving a carry or breaking directional support may cost more than the Shield growth adds.
